"For thousands of years now, it’s been man’s dream to walk on the moon. Right now, after seeing it happen, knowing that it happened, it still seems like a dream. And it is, I guess—a dream come true.” - Walter Cronkite (American journalist and poet)
USA vs USSR:
The political impacts if the Apollo 11 space mission were significant in many ways. It fulfilled President JFK’s promise to get a man on the moon and back by the end of the decade, asserting the USA's dominance in the frontier of space. The USSR, the competitor of the USA in the Space Race, denied that there was ever a race to the Moon in the first place. However, America’s landing ended the Space Race and allowed for both countries to claim its place in space history.

"I think we went to the moon because it's in the nature of the human being to face challenges. It's by the nature of his deep inner soul that we are required to do these things, just as salmon swim upstream." - Neil Armstrong (NASA astronaut/Apollo 11 member)

Economic and Social Point of View:
"The way NASA works is amazing - it creates opportunities for us to travel farther into the solar system and work with the next generation of science and technology. NASA does the unthinkable” - Scott Kelly (NASA astronaut and engineer)
NASA’s spending on space projects increasingly rose until 1965 where it peaked and took away almost 4.5 percent of the US federal budget, creating a dent in the federal budget. The project came out to a grand total of 176 billion dollars. Statistically, only about 50 percent of the public wanted the moon landing to happen, so social disturbances occurred. However, the start of this project created numerous openings in fields like engineering, technology, manufacturing, and science, creating an income for many US families.
